Letters from Emma, a future BASIS San Antonio student
Emma is ten years old and volition be attending sixth grade at Ground San Antonio this fall. I invited her to write a guest web log mail about BASIS. She wrote 2 letters, one for parents and ane for kids.
Dearest Parents of swell kids,
What do y'all think of when you hear the words charter school? Nigh people say that they think of a private school or a very expert education, which the second one is a very good answer. Basis is a public schoolhouse. When I hear the words lease school I remember of Basis. Basis to me is the all-time eye schoolhouse and loftier school that was ever created. Some of the reasons why I think that Basis is a peachy school are that it has a bang-up curriculum. Besides, they take great extra curricular activities and clubs such equally hiking club, choir, tennis, LEGO robotics, and much, much more than. Parents, some reasons that brand it a not bad idea to send your kids to Basis are that there are great and understanding teachers who intendance for your kids equally if they were their ain. They desire you to succeed and practise slap-up things. Also, there is a fourth dimension right later on school were your kids could stay and visit the teachers to talk about stuff that they didn't have fourth dimension for during schoolhouse hours. At that place's a lot more homework, but they will help us larn ways to go information technology all done. Footing wants your kids to learn. You can likewise help your kids learn different languages such every bit French, Mandarin Chinese, and Latin at Ground. Your kids will become a take a chance to get into all kinds of AP [avant-garde placement] courses which means that they get higher credits earlier they are ever in higher. To me Basis is heaven on a silver composition book just waiting to exist read. Practice yous want your kids to take the best educational activity? If the answer is yes, send your kids to Basis today!
Love Kids with smart parents,
When I went to the Ground informational session I learned that Footing isn't merely a school with a great curriculum, it is a school with fun, learning, and excitement. Hey kids, this paragraph is for you. Most kids ask what there is that they tin can practice that is fun. Well, there is something fun to exercise at this school for anybody. In fact at that place are tons of fun activities at Basis. Some of these things listed in a higher place in the parent'southward paragraph to a higher place are great electives and clubs to choose from. Hiking club, choir, tennis, LEGO robotics are some of the things I am looking frontward to. Likewise if y'all are one of those kids who want to get to a great college, well here is your take a chance. Basis gives you a really good gamble to get into a big name college, and perhaps scholarships as well. The teachers have all gone to college and accept degrees, so they are amend able to help the states larn almost the subjects they teach. Chemical science from a chemist? They don't take that at my school, but they have teachers like that at Basis. They also won't take to only focus on teaching u.s. tests. Sometimes nosotros get actually great teachers at my school and sometimes we don't. I got lucky this yr and my teacher is awesome. But at Basis nosotros go great teachers all the time, non just by being lucky. Do y'all get bored in schoolhouse? I get bored a lot and I don't like it. All of these things I have listed together are the reasons I know I won't be bored in class at Ground. I wish all students had a chance similar this. I'm glad my Mom found out most this school and that we went to go more information virtually it. I can't look to start class at Basis next year!
Emma'due south mom, Adele Williams, would like to add:
Equally a parent, I want what is best for my daughter. What parent doesn't desire that? Nosotros accept been blessed with a nifty public elementary school and staff for her first through fifth grade instruction, just the number one concern we've had yr afterward year was that she was becoming increasingly bored. She makes fantastic grades, has attended the Alpha programme for all five years, and explored all academic extracurricular activities we could discover in the local area, and yet she'south nevertheless telling me "Mom, I'1000 bored".
Luckily for us, some friends with kids nearly the same historic period let us in on the upcoming opening of a new charter school for San Antonio. I did what any parent would do. I got skeptical, read upward on their data on the spider web, and started to snoop around looking for reasons information technology would or would non be a good fit. I started request questions of charter school parents – both by and present. And so I signed up to nourish an informational session hosted past the school itself. I opted to bring my daughter to gauge her reaction. Within thirty minutes our entire family was glued to the slide deck being presented. It honestly sounded besides good to exist true. BASIS San Antonio hosts a curriculum suited to each pupil. No decorated piece of work. No more belongings dorsum. No more "Mom, I'one thousand bored".
When they showed the slides on linguistic communication, my daughter leaned over to me and asked "Mom, does that hateful I can really learn Mandarin? Because I really, actually want to do that." Her optics were lit up and she was sold. I was nonetheless a piddling skeptical.
I needed to exercise more enquiry and ask more questions. Then I emailed the speaker from that nighttime and in tape time had total answers to my long list of questions and concerns. This schoolhouse and their curriculum truly was proving to exist in line with my ain ideas of educating my girl in a positive, supportive, and self-paced environs.
When we got the confirmation that she was confirmed for attendance for the following school year we went out and celebrated. My daughter talks non-stop to her friends nigh how excited she is to attend the new school and keeps looking upwards information online on other BASIS schools to see what other students accept washed. Every twenty-four hours it'due south another you tube video, or an article about a nifty accomplishment or college acceptance.
For us, BASIS San Antonio comes at a perfect time. As she transitions out of elementary schoolhouse and into middle school I feel confident that she will do then in an environs that will keep her brain stimulated and finally battle the "Mom, I'1000 bored". We can't wait for this coming school year and nosotros are very much thankful to those who brought BASIS to San Antonio.
